Together, each other’s quirks were perfectly known. Not imposed upon and comfortably accepted. It was only after the next girl did I realise that this was the case.
The next: Jules. She drove me nuts! Boy, constantly about something, anything. But Tash. My forever gone Natasha. If she was tired, I became so instantly. When I’d like a scotch, she’d pour and wait for a kiss as payment. Arriving from work, her door-slam gave me patience to listen.
We had it figured. We’d tricked the world. If our desires were as measured as our love, maybe we’d still be together.
